Warnings Explained

Southweather issue three types of weather alerts, weather advisory, weather warning & flash warning. Here is a short explanation about each type of warning.

Weather Advisory

A weather advisory can be issued up to 3 days in advance of severe weather. A weather advisory indicates a 30-40% chance of adverse weather.

Weather Warning

A weather warning can be issued up to 2 days in advance of severe weather. A weather weather warning indicates a 40-60% chance of adverse weather.

Flash Warning

A flash warning can be issued within 1 day of a severe weather event occurring. A weather advisory and warning can both be superseded by a flash warning. Most flash warnings are issued on the day severe weather is expected.
